Carl Fox - 2011 GKUW Harley-Davidson™ Sweepstakes Winner!

December 13, 2011 - Kalamazoo, Michigan – At 2:15PM today employees from Benteler Automotive gathered in the facility at the Kalamazoo Plant in Galesburg where Carl Fox, a Materials Team Leader – had been randomly selected as the winner of a 2011 Harley-Davidson™ Softail Deluxe™ Motorcycle.
Fox was one of more than 5,900 individuals that qualified for the 2011 Harley-Davidson™ Softail Deluxe™ Motorcycle.
The sweepstakes was made possible by PNC Bank with the express purpose of being used as an incentive to encourage new and increased contributions. As a result, any donor who made a first-time gift of at least $50.00, or made a gift that had increased from the previous year by at least $50.00, was automatically entered into the drawing.
The manufacturing sector has been - and continues to be - very supportive of the Greater Kalamazoo United Way (GKUW) Annual Community Campaign.
GKUW has enjoyed a longstanding partnership with Benteler Automotive. Despite the challenges that the automotive industry has seen in recent history, Benteler and the employees have generously supported the Greater Kalamazoo United Way (GKUW). Both Anne Melchi, Human Resource Manager and Susan Steinman, Human Resource Generalist, have played a critical role in ensuring the continued success of the annual campaign at the local Benteler facility.
As of December 12th, the Campaign had successfully raised more than $8,520,295 towards a community goal of $9,300,000. “With $779,705 to go, we are still counting on community members who haven’t contributed to do so”, said Riker.

United Way is the collective response to community issues that we all have in common. United Way advances the common good by creating opportunities for a better life for all. United Way recruits people and organizations who bring the passion, expertise and resources needed to get things done.
GKUW is an autonomous 501(c)(3) organization that is governed by a local volunteer Board of Directors. Additionally, a volunteer committee of financial experts from the community meets year-round, monitoring the organization’s financial position. Each year, GKUW is audited by a national, independent accounting firm and has consistently received an unqualified opinion letter and has earned the highest four-star rating from the nation’s leading charity watchdog organization for the last four years.
